Sunday 20th September, we challenge our members to row to the moon (384400m), raising money for mental wellbeing charity, Mind.
We have always been advocates for healthy body, healthy mind. Exercise is medicine and can help people with both mental and physical stresses.
Lockdown has impacted the mental health of many people, from job worries, confinement and lack of interaction with their loved ones.
We made it our goal to ensure our current members still got the interaction and exercise they craved through digital means. The staff ran zoom quizzes, spoke one-to-one with those who needed extra support, continually engaged through social platforms and provided a membership hold to help them through the tough times. What’s more, we ran a push up competition in the lead up to the gyms opening, to get our members warmed up and excited to be back!
Our goal also extended beyond our members, to everyone who needed inspiration for their 1 hour of exercise by providing FREE online workouts. These were daily routines to help deliver variety to the workouts.
Now coming out of lockdown, we feel it’s important to continue to give back. Which is why we’re going to be running a ‘Row to the Moon’ event to raise money and support Mind! We want to support everyone who has and is still struggling with their mental wellbeing in a way that lifts awareness, lifts our community spirit, and lifts funds for Mind.org to continue their dedicated support.
Mind.org works hard to provide advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem. They campaign to improve services, raise awareness, and promote understanding.
